A courtyard of artists’ books, zines and prints, plus all the illustrators, printers and bookbinders behind the work was a wonderful sight to see. Susie Wilson generously include UME (made at her class in 2016) on her Introduction to Artists’ Books stall so we got to see the set up unfolding – pun intended!
We took our time to have a look round – so many ideas, styles and influences.
Great to meet Typochondriacs again, last seen pre-pandemic at Art Walk Porty, and have a look at all her lovely letterpress work (plus buy that book pictured in the glassine envelope).
Other purchases included zines by Marc Gosteli and a photobook by last years graduate Alexander Van Der Byl. Upcoming magazines by Pearl Slug Studio use art to discuss issues in contemporary China – we look forward to seeing them in the UK very soon.
The Bookmarks Bumper Zine for 2022 was on the theme of displacement – fitting when so many had to adapt their lives, work and education to the pandemics new normal. The collective production was filled with riso prints from each of the ECA stalls.
Looking forward to seeing what next years Bookmarks will bring and wishing every success to this years graduates.
